Music and Movies! Better than PB&J!

Everyone has those favorite moments in movies when they use a song that they really enjoy. Either it’s from a musical or from some scene where the soundtrack song choice was awesome. Well today’s blog will be about those moments in movies that I really enjoyed because of the song or musical number they do in them. I came up with today’s blog when I wanted to make a c.d. with all my favorite songs from movies that I had seen. The c.d. was pretty good and I realized that songs from movies tie in just as much as the story does.

Let’s start with one of my favorite movies of all time, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. The scene that created a great music moment was the parade scene. One of the great feel good moments in movie history. The scene pretty much embodied what the film was all about, go out and have some fun. The scene is great because of the use of the famous Beatles song “Twist and Shout”, which charted again because of the popularity from this movie. Here is the scene from the movie.

This scene makes this movie one of my favorites and I pretty much watch it whenever I feel pretty down. If anyone has seen it then they obviously know what I am talking about but if you haven’t then you are missing out on a future favorite of yours.

Now on to the second film scene with great music is Back to the Future. Now I hope everyone has seen this movie because this is a great film for anyone and I can’t imagine someone not liking it. Well the scene that I love from the movie is when Michael J. Fox’s character Marty McFly sort of celebrates his accomplished mission of making sure his parents end up together. This scene just helps to reinforce the fun of watching this movie. Here is the scene to watch for yourself either to bring back memories or to watch if you haven’t seen it.

marty mcfly - johnny b. goode from etsw on Vimeo.

Another favorite movie if mine is Beetlejuice because of how silly it is. This next scene I just really enjoy just because how ridiculous it is. The scene in question is the one where all the grownups are forced by the ghosts of the house they are in to sing and dance. The scene was the best out of the film because you just wished that something like that would happen at a dinner party you were forced to attend.

There is another scene from the same movie that was also great because of the song that was picked. The whole scene is made hilarious because of the song Jump In The Line and because it’s a little of a feel good song too.

Keeping along with the ingenious use of rhythmic music to use in a comedy movie, my next favorite scenes from a movie because of the music is from The Mask. Everyone should know those two scenes. The first of course is the scene where The Mask dances with Cameron Diaz’s character (this was when she was really hot and wasn’t all muscle like she is now). Finally of course it has to be the escape from the cops scene. Who didn’t like that and who wouldn’t want to escape that way.

Ok so let’s diverge to a great moment in film that used music but this time it’s a bit creepier. I hope some of you have seen Deliverance and know that it is the creepiest movie for men who want to go out and be outdoorsy. If you haven’t seen the film well you should go out and watch it but hopefully this creepy clip of banjos from the movie piques your interest.

Ok now back to some feel good moments with music in film. Here are two great scenes that I really enjoyed the sock slide scene from Risky Business and of course the roller coaster-throw up scene from The Sandlot. Now both scenes should make any guy love them because hey that is what we are all about, trying to get away from adults and have some fun.

Alright this next scene I challenge anyone to say they didn’t love it. Whoever hasn’t seen Wayne’s World needs to just stop reading this stupid blog and go and get it now. Well the scene in question is the one where Wayne and his best friend Garth sing along with the radio to Bohemian Rhapsody. Who after watching this didn’t jam out to that song in their car?

This next scene is from a relatively new movie. The scene in my opinion has become classic because it could be right up there from these great old school scenes from film history.

Well the film that I was saying with such an awesome scene as that from Grease and Footloose is the movie 500 Days of Summer. If you haven’t seen the film it’s a must watch for any guy to know that it isn’t hard to get over a chick every guy has it happened to them. Well here is the scene from the film which uses the song You Make My Dreams by Hall & Oats. Here check it out yourself.

This next film I am not real sure how people feel about it. The movie is called The Rocky Horror Picture Show and I find it extremely funny and weird but I don't think some people would like it because well the main character is a transvestite alien. Haha the idea is so funny that it really makes one enjoy the film. Well here is the best song I think from the film.

Now on to the last scene for today’s blog. This one is my favorite because I love the film so much. The Blues Brothers has to be in the top in movies and there are a lot of great music scenes but my favorite is the classic climatic scene where they finally make it to the Palace Hotel Ballroom and they sing the classic song Everybody Needs Somebody To Love. The scene is hilarious because everyone in the movie is there and they can’t do anything but sit back and enjoy the music even though all the police are after the two.

I hoped everyone enjoyed the blog today. Hopefully I can get some good ideas just like this one. Well here is the song of the day, The Across the Galaxy Tour “Golden Age”. This video is the extended version of the Heineken commercial that the song is used for.

Want a Better Way to Celebrate July 4th? Why Not Watch Cartoons!

Today’s post hopefully will bring a bit of nostalgia for everyone who reads it. The idea for the post today came from my friend when we were talking about cartoons that we used to watch as kids. Now this discussion happens pretty much twice a year because well those are some of the finer memories from childhood. Every kid gets plugged into whatever show they are watching when they are kids. No one could take us away from it once we started watching Saturday morning cartoons and I know that I would throw a tantrum if my parents wouldn’t let me watch them. So today’s post I’ll be giving a list and clips of some of my favorite shows to watch when I was a kid.

The first show I want to show ya’ll was one of my favorites as a kid. I liked this show so much because the kid that the show was about had a crazy imagination and it was really funny to watch. The show was called Bobby’s World which was created by everyone’s favorite host from Deal or No Deal, Howie Mandel. The show was around for 8 years so that should tell you that this show was very entertaining for a long time. Here is the intro to show. All I knew too was I wanted that underwater boat that he had haha.

This next show was one of my favorites. It was a pirate cartoon show but it was different from other pirate shows because it was based on an alien planet. In the show the characters are trying to rid their world of something called “Dark Water”. It was cool to watch and now when I think about I don’t really remember any specifics but I mean if I can remember a show as obscure as this one then it was obviously pretty good. The show was called The Pirates of Dark Water. Here is a clip.

Another show I really fondly remember was The Tick. The show was so stupidly funny not one person couldn’t enjoy it. This show was mainly responsible for introducing to a wider audience the satirical comic book character. The show was great because there just wasn’t one ridiculous superhero in the show but many who were all parodies of famous superheroes. Here is a clip.

Yet another show that I bet maybe most people don’t know but hopefully you remember after you see this clip.

Haha I loved Life with Louie because the comedian whose childhood this is based off of, Louie Anderson, was so funny. His nasally voice cracked me up so many times and the show reminded me of Pete & Pete a little which, was also a great show. Pete and Pete also had the greatest intro in my opinion. Here is a clip of the intro.

This next section I won’t go into great of detail because these shows I watched mainly because of all the fighting that was in it. They were all pretty lame in the acting parts but give me a break who wasn’t overjoyed to see sparks and things blowing up and machines fighting bigger machines and lasers being fired everywhere. Well hopefully these next few clips bring back some memories of great fighting shows. By the way if anyone is interested to watch some of these, all the power rangers are on Netflix. So go there if you’re feeling a bit nostalgic.

Now these next shows my parents really didn’t like when I watched them. Mainly because there was a lot of farting and other disgusting stuff going on in them. The main ones they hated were Cow and Chicken and 2 Stupid Dogs. I myself couldn’t get enough of them. Comedic gold for little kids. Those guys finally figured it out that it doesn’t take much to make kids really really laugh.

The other ones my parents didn’t like but didn’t make too big a deal out of were Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Freakazoid (which my brother loved so much that he named his cat after the show), and KaBlam!.

Now KaBlam! was an awesome show because of two things: Action League Now and Prometheus and Bob. Those two shorts were the funniest out of anything I would watch as a kid and I had to watch them all the time. Here are two shorts from both.

Now the last show I want to talk about I hopefully am not alone in thinking was the best out of most of the examples I have already given. This one was hands down the funniest kids show to watch. Not even that, this show was even popular with adults. I know this because my parents had no problem with this show being on because they enjoyed watching it as well. Well enough suspense let me tell just show the intro to the show.

Pinky and The Brain was so widely popular because a lot of the humor was aimed at adults and the show would often parody pop culture. That is why this show was perfect to talk about for this blog.

Well I hope all these cartoon clips helped to bring back a bit of nostalgia for you and make you think of a simpler time when you didn’t have to do much except wake up, eat, make your parents go crazy, and watch cartoons.

Finally here is the song of the day. Going to go with the theme of the blog today, so here is the song I liked the most from Pinky and The Brain. Oh also happy 4th of July! America Fuck Yah!

Find Out What Happened On July 2nd!

Well today’s blog will be a short because I don’t have much time today but hopefully it will interest anyone who reads it.

Let me start by telling you the importance of today, July 2nd. Basically this is the middle of the year. Congratulations everyone we are half way through 2011! One more year and everyone will be up in hoopla about the world ending again (hopefully everyone knows about the 2012 predictions of the world ending, if not go and watch the terrible film 2012).

But let’s not focus on all that. Let me just give you a quick list of pop culture happenings on this date.

Well the only guy I found interesting that died on July 2nd was James Stewart. I hope some of you know who is. Here is a quick picture.

He is most famous for starring in It’s A Wonderful Life and the Alfred Hitchcock film Vertigo. Really great actor in his time. He was named the third greatest male star of all time by the American Film Institute

Well the births are not too exceptional on today’s date. Lindsey Lohan was born today (bleh). She needs to get her shit together so she can just disappear all the together because the only reason she is still famous is because she still get messed up like this.

One birthday I do like that happened today was the birth of Bret “The Hitman” Hart. One of the great wrestlers from awhile ago that I used to watch all the time when I was a kid. Let’s give a quick stat line of what The Hitman has accomplished.

4x WCW United States Heavyweight Champion
2x WCW World Heavyweight Champion
1x WCW World Tag Team Champion
1x WWE United States Champion
5x WWF Champion
2x WWF Intercontinental Champion
2x WWF Tag Team Champion
2x King of the Rings
1994 Royal Rumble Winner
Second Triple Crown Champion
WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2006

That’s pretty awesome for only one guy. Given he accomplished all this because he was a great showman and everyone really liked him. Here is a quick clip of him facing my favorite wrestler HBK.

Finally so I can fill this page up, here is a list of the number one songs on the US Chart from July 2nd for the past 10 years.

2001       Usher – U Remind Me
2002       Nelly – Hot In Herre
2003       Clay Aiken – This Is The Night
2004       Usher – Burn
2005       Carrie Underwood – Inside Your Heaven
2006       Nelly Furtado feat. Timbaland – Promiscuous
2007       Rihanna feat. Jay-Z – Umbrella
2008       Katy Perry – I Kissed a Girl
2009       Black Eyed Peas – Boom Boom Pow
2010       Katy Perry feat. Snoop Dogg – California Gurls
2011       Adele – Rolling In the Deep

Ehh, well a lot of these songs I don’t like but whatever. It is a little interesting to see what was famous at this time.

Ok well that is it for today. Here is the song of the day. Enjoy.

Movies to see in July! Don't Miss Out!

Here is a new segment for the blog that starts today people. Every 1st day of the month I will be posting what movies you should go see this month and the clips to go with them. I am only going to tell you which I think will be the best ones to see are and don’t worry there will not be any lame Disney or romance movies on this list.

Well I can assume that everyone likes a movie when 3 actors that you find really funny are in it. Horrible Bosses should satisfy every funny bone in your body with a bunch of actors that everyone should find hilarious. The movie stars  Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis as friends who are trying to scheme to kill their respective bosses. Here is a trailer for the new movie.

Haha looks really funny. What I like are the 3 bosses. Kevin Spacey always puts in great performances. Jennifer Aniston I finally see being funny because she will be pared with Charlie Day who is the funniest guy from his own show Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Colin Farrell should be funny basically making fun of himself being a tool. Horrible Bosses comes out on July 8th.

The next film that everyone should go out to see on the day it comes out, maybe even the midnight showing for sure, should be Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Finally the last installment of the Harry Potter series and finally everyone will know what is going to happen (well you would know if you read the books but that issue is for another time). I know most people won’t admit that they like Harry Potter but everyone has a secret love for the series and they all want to make sure they see this film. The movie comes out July 15th. Here is the newest trailer out right now.

This next film I have been looking forward to since I first heard they were making it. Captain America: The First Avenger. This superhero movie should do better than the other superhero movies that have come out this summer because it has to deal with a first tier hero and not a second tier one like Green Lantern. Everyone has a good interest in Nazi and World War II movies so throw all that in with a superhero that goes out to kick Nazi ass, well it should do an awesome job of that. Here is the latest trailer which really showcases what is going to be in the film. Captain America comes out July 22.

Ok well let’s move away from superhero and epic fantasy saga films and lets delve into a new comedy film coming out starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. The film titled Friends with Benefits should be a really funny and a lot better than No Strings Attached (I don’t know, I just don’t like Ashton Kutcher. He was only funny in That 70’s Show and nothing else). Justin Timberlake has come along as actually a pretty good actor as anyone could tell from The Social Network. He is also extremely funny if any of ya’ll have seen him from any number of funny SNL skits he has done. This clip should be a quick reminder.

Mila Kunis is not bad herself. Hopefully she continues to become a big star because she is really great on screen, oh and she isn’t all that bad to look at either. Friends with Benefits comes out on July 13.

The last two films that I recommend everyone to see this month is Cowboys & Aliens and The Devil’s Double. The first is well pretty self explanatory, the film stars Daniel Craig who plays a cowboy who no memory and he quickly finds out that a lot of people want him for crimes he doesn’t remember making. The film also stars Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde who should make the film great as well. Cowboys & Aliens comes out on July 29. Here is the latest trailer.

Now the Devil’s Double should be an epic film that most people won’t know of as much as these others but it will probably show these other films a thing or two about action and drama. The Devil’s Double stars Dominic Cooper (you might know him if any of ya’ll have seen Mamma Mia) who is captured and is made to be the double of Uday Hussein, the son of Saddam Hussein. After watching the trailer I was kind of reminded of Scarface a little, which is a great film of no has seen it. Here check it out for yourself. The Devil’s Double comes out July 29.

Okay well the song of the day is Heart of Gold by Neil Young. Playing this because my best friend told me the other day that he is the deepest artist other than Bob Dylan and people forget that.

Saved by the Bell back on TV? Well maybe!

Ok so I guess everyone is pretty bored with their TV this summer. With all their favorite shows on their regular summer hiatus, I’m sure everyone is missing an awesome show to watch and keep up on for the summer. Well fear not because starting today I will be posting the best shows that will be airing each night. I know it’s a little late but for people with on demand; hopefully the first few episodes of these series will be on there.

Ok well first I want to start off with a show I watched last night that everyone should get ready to watch every Wednesday night. One of the funniest shows right now, starring two of the funniest actors as well. Ok well you may not know them very well but once you see them you will definitely recognize them. Alright well the show is called Franklin & Bash and it deals with two very unconventional lawyers. The show stars Breckin Meyer and Mark-Paul Gosselaar who you all may recognize after this funny clip.

Ok well most people may be able to recognize them but hopefully this next clip reminds you where that guy with the black hair came from.

Haha yah that is Zack from Saved by the Bell, which I hope everyone watched during their middle and high school days in the morning right before you went to class. When I first watched the show I definitely knew who he was but I couldn’t place it until I forced myself to look it up or I was going to go crazy (everyone has that happen to them).

But yah everyone should watch this show every Wednesday night starting at 8 on TNT.

Alright well on to what should be watched tonight. Well the top show that should be watched in my opinion is another lawyer show called Suits. The show stars Patrick J. Adams who plays a genius pothead with an eidetic memory who is able to pass the bar exam without going to law school. Gabriel Macht plays a very successful lawyer who hires Adams character to be his new associate. The show revolves around the two representing clients while also making sure that no one finds out that Adams character has not gone to law school. Here is a preview of the show.

Suits starts at 9 on USA network.

Ok well everyone come back to the blog tomorrow where I am going to start a new segment that will happen the 1st of every month.

Till next time here is the song of the day. Haha I only put this up here because I watched Beavis and Butt-Head and I remembered this from MTV a long time ago. Enjoy.

Bored? Need to waste 5 min? Well then check this site out!

So everyone has those sites that they use in order to blow some time. Either when they are at work, sitting in the waiting room at the doctor’s office surfing their iphone, and trying to listen in class but not really because that day doesn’t really matter because the next text isn’t for 10 days and you have plenty of time to find a buddy and copy their notes.

Well I’m talking about this today because I want to share with you one of the sites I use all the time when I am bored and waste some time. I first heard of this from one of my good buddies at school. He obviously saw me in a state of extreme boredom and he wanted to share his great discovery with me. I’ll do the same for you guys today.

Ok well the site is called listverse.com and is one of the best sites out there. If you can just grow your attention span just a little and move away from watching videos all day from youtube and collegehumor (although awesome sites in their own right) and read a little, you will learn some facts that you would have never known in your life. And I’m not talking about facts that you will never use but facts that can actually help you out.

Here this one is a great example about facts that one should know (ok well some of them you don’t really need to know but they do prove some facts that we have been taught since we were kids to actually be false).

This list gives the top 10 things you ought to know. Number 3 states that actually no one thought the world was flat and Columbus actually didn’t go out to prove that the world wasn’t flat. What a bunch of bull teachers have been giving us. Even though it’s been awhile since I’ve been in kindergarten I would still imagine teachers being lazy and still telling kids that “fact” about Columbus.

Another interesting list is one listing 25 fascinating and fun fact lets with number 23 stating that “The first ice pop dates back to 1923, when lemonade salesman Frank Epperson left a glass of lemonade outside one cold night. The next morning, the ice pop was born – and originally called the epsicle ice pop.”

Alright you might be saying ok these are some boring facts but hey wait the site gets better. There are a lot more lists on the site and they separate them by categories. The categories include art & literature, bizarre, crime &mystery, entertainment, fact & fiction, food & health, history, leisure& travel, miscellaneous, movies, music, people & politics, religion, and finally science & nature.

My favorite ones are crime &mystery, entertainment, and movies.

One of the lists that I have come across that was crazy was the Top 10 Celebrities Who Have Killed Someone. This list is crazy. There are some people on this who you would have never thought would be on here. Ok well the first person on the list I could have seen killing someone but hey that was the 90s and he was the original O.G., so of course he would have killed someone haha. Don King is on the list but everyone knows he is an asshole. And one of the most bizarre to me was that a Little Rascal has killed someone. THAT’S INSANE! Beat you never knew that.

Alright so I hope ya’ll enjoy this site as much as I do. No video in the blog today but hopefully the song of the day interests you. One of my friends showed me this artist once and it was awesome. He mixes some crazy things and makes them into some pretty cool songs. Here check it out. Enjoy.

Commercials from Childhood

Ok so today’s post is about TV commercials we should all remember seeing as kids. I remember as a kid that whenever I saw a commercial dealing with a toy, I listened and everyone else had better shut up and left me alone so I could watch. Haha. There were a lot of awesome ones but there were also a lot of lame ones out there that came on to TV. One specific commercial I do remember was the Crossfire board game commercial.

Here check it out for yourself.

Haha wow! The commercial made it seem so badass but it was far from it. However those were some commercial geniuses because I remember I begged and begged and begged for that game. Luckily my parents never bought it for me because the game sucked. I remember playing it at a friend’s house and two minutes into it I wanted to quit. It was the worst game ever. It was almost like and endless game of air hockey except the triangle and star shaped pieces stayed in the middle. Worthless game but awesome commercial.

Alright now let’s talk about a little kid commercial. Everyone has got to remember Mr. Bucket. Who doesn’t? If you haven’t then either your parents were evil and never had a TV or didn’t let you watch TV as a child. But if you have seen it then you know the catchy tune that everyone just interpreted as what they said on the commercial. “Mr. Bucket, put your balls in his mouth, Mr. Bucket!” Haha. Of course that’s not what he said but everyone has wild imaginations and fun times making fun of it whenever it came on.

Check it out yourself

Ok one of the last great commercials I can remember right now is the Talk boy commercials. I hope everyone remembers this from Home Alone 2. Here watch it first.

Ok very misleading to kids. Everyone thought that when they got a talk boy they could do all these secret mission things and trick everyone. Well it doesn’t work like that at all. Haha far from it. It’s more like you just sit there and talk into it, mess up your voice a little and then you throw it to the side when you see another awesome commercial on TV. We as kids were dumb but oh well we were kids. Give us what we want and we will shut up haha.

Hey if you remember any other commercials, comment and leave a link to it from youtube.

Here is the song of the day. Black Keys are awesome. This is from their Brothers album.

First Post! The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Alright so I have wanted to write a blog for awhile now, but I have had no idea what to write about. I don’t give very good advice and I don’t know a lot about politics and stuff so those where out of the question. So I’ve decided to write about what I know best movies, TV, books, and music. That’s all I have really ever been interested in so that’s what I’m going to talk about guys.

So let’s start off on what I just finished reading.  The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Awesome book. I couldn’t put it down for a second. Now I like reading but it’s got to be a really good one in order for me to sit down and read and not sit down and watch TV instead.

Now the only reason I read the book was because I saw this beauty of a trailer when I was at the movies.

I know awesome. I can’t wait for this to come out. Ha yah I showed some of my friends this but they didn’t get as excited as I am. Hopefully whoever reads this watches the trailer and reads the book. Though this book has already been read by a lot of people, so I don’t see the point in me promoting it but whatever I had to write down my enjoyment for it.

Oh I’ll also leave the song I’ve been listening to all day.
